Semi-old thread but I wanted to add that the 351W idea really is the better approach. Everything you do to a 302 will still net you more gain if you instead do it to a 351W. No need to worry about fuel economy either because the 351W can be geared taller. The best part is that the GM jockey doesn't need to know! And he probably won't know because almost all Non-Ford folks can't tell a 351 from a 302! It can remain your dirty little secret!
