Trav
I had 97-04 F150 tow hooks there originally, and had to remove them when I installed the 1/4" steel channel because the bolt holes didn't line up with where I wanted to attach the channel at. I'll eventually figure out how to put them back on there!

[QUOTE=dixie460;14994736]Winch mounted behind the factory bumper.
More custom built goodies to come as soon as I find another house. Gotta have a garage (or big shed/barn/whatever) to work out of!

I would love to see a write up on this bumper! Or any other of your soon-to-be goodies! It seems that you have some good ideas!

Well there's a few more pics of it here: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...eir-truck.html

I should have done a write up on it but didn't take enough pics during fabrication. Pretty simple really: Remove factory bumper. Measure, cut, drill, and install 1/4" thick by 8" wide structural c-channel with six grade 8 bolts. Mount winch and fairlead to c-channel. Measure and cut factory bumper out for fairlead. Cut factory bumper mounts off of frame, weld them outboard and slightly forward of factory location. Cut mating brackets off of bumper, move them outwards to mate up with frame brackets, weld in place. A little time with the grinder and sawzall to trim everything to fit and you're done!

Lol. Don't consider it being scolded, it's just that we have multiple threads around here already for custom goodies and it's better to keep them all in one place!

I like that bumper/air tank combo... was thinking of doing the same with mine actually. I already have an 8 gallon tank mounted in the toolbox though. Used to have a 7 gallon portable air tank from walmart there, but I wanted a tank with a drain so I bought a Harbor Freight air compressor (pretty nice one actually) and used the tank from it. Gave the oil-lube direct-drive pump to my buddy (after testing it of course) and he traded it to his neighbor for a complete but smaller compressor setup.

How does that coating hold up on your bumper? Can you push things around without it scraping off easily?

460..is that 8gal enough to do any good? I have an onboard compressor in the plan, but far future.
And the paint I have not tested yet. Definitely impressed with the looks of this duplicolor over that herculiner crap.. After a few trees and signs I'll let you know how it holds

That's pretty neat! The diamond plate accents really set it off!

redneck_davis, yes that 8 gallon can handle things just fine. It feeds my 1/2" impact gun just fine, can put around ~15 PSI or so into one of my 31" tires before the compressor cuts in, and I can blow my four air horns (which I only usually need a quick 3 second blast on them to alert idiots that they are in fact being idiots) for probably around 15 seconds or so before pressure got too low.
