Engine Wiring Harness

I have a question regarding a replacement harness for my excursion

I am in the middle of going thru it(its out of the vehicle) and have found multiple broken tabs, chaffing spots, etc. and am only 1/3 of the way thru it so i have decided to just replace it.

I spoke with tousley this morning and they say there are 2 variations for my vin#. The guy didnt know which one and said there is a different guy who would be in on monday and could probably answer which one. I don't like probably so i am asking here.

Is there another way to figure this out by using something other than a vin# such as an engine serial # or id tag? And would the number on the ficm be relevant?

The harness I am after goes from the middle port on the pcm all the way to the ckp.<---- (this was a biotch to get out, btw)

My engine build date is 08/04. any help is appreciated

Another way to determine the correct engine harness part number from Ford is to post the Navistar ID tag number here. This will be the number on the tag of the harness itself, if you follow the harness from the middle PCM connector up toward the engine.

An engine harness has already been replaced on this truck back in January 31, 2007 @ 46334 miles according to the warranty claim detail. The part number for the engine harness they used is 4C3Z-12B637-CA if it helps.

where did you find that? i got an oasis report back when i bought the ex in aug of last year and the only major things i saw were an egr valve and a cmp.

i must have missed that wiring harness or misread the oasis. i appreciate the help Mike. in any event, from what i have seen the tech that put in the new harness had no clue about how to properly support wiring which would explain why i have so much chaffing in areas where i should not.
