Got a Question

http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o...ps78919e42.jpg

Please refer to the photo. I borrowed this photo from the "Help me find a part thread"

I was in my truck L99 the other day as a passenger, not the driver and I noticed that with the AC on or heater on there is no air coming from the passenger side of the dash vents. Meaning the vent on the right side of the dash and the vent closest to the passenger window. I then went to my other E99 and it does the same thing...No air flow thru those two vents. I don't think this is normal. Has anyone else experienced this with their trucks? I've had my E99 since 2005 and I never noticed this problem. The cab has always heated up fine or cooled down fine and my passengers never mentioned it.

Jeff

Jeff, I just looked in the manual and here is what I found. It appears that vacuum is NOT applied to have air running from the dash vents (see picture). So with the vents working on the driver's side and no vacuum involved in opening the vents, I would be looking at either a physical obstruction or vent tubing disconnected. I know that's not much help .

Have you tried selecting vent and closing all but one and fan on high? Try to force as much air through say the passenger side far right vent...maybe if it is a giant hairball it will be forced loose or you will hear where the physical break in the vent system is occurring? Just thoughts and I know not much help...sorry.

Sometimes the smallest thing gets overlooked... so without implying anything here, I must ask: Did you ensure the lever to the left of the vent is in the up position?

hasnt there been, where members find baggies or what not, obstructing the "return" vent, down on p/s floor?

Yes, that was my reference to "a giant hairball".

Thanks Neal, Tugly and Timmyboy for your inputs. I'll be working on my truck next week and will check it out. It's seems strange that I never even noticed this until I sat on the passenger side the other day and noticed no heat coming from the vents. On the drivers side it seems that everything works great with plenty of heat or cold coming only from two vents..Thanks Again.....Jeff
