I'm new to the board. Hope someone can help with this:
I have a '99 Explorer Limited. The LCD radio display (time & station) fades in then out and stays mostly out for 99% of the time. I've checked all the internal fuses and they are fine. The dealer told me it's a common problem and that it is cheaper to replace the entire radio than to fix it. Even so, the replacement would be around $300 !
I geuss its not under warrenty so if u want to replace it, why not go aftermarket? you can get a real nice radio for less than $300 and it will make ur music sound better. In my opinion to replace a radio is a DIY job so u should be ok doing it urself.
Look at the top of this page. There are 7 blue links to the right. The 6th one is the search link.
Click on it then it the search topic put radio LCD and see what comes up. You might want to try differant searches also like LCD, radio display, etc.
You can try www.shareamemory.com/radio
It will guide you through the repair process to do it yourself or, there is an option to purchase the parts if you don't like to do soldering.
