thanks mike, i appricate the offer. i may still have some of those things to do in the summer but, i'm gonna get my order out this coming week before some thing else comes up that i have to spend the money on. i dont think ryan would wait that long for my cores. but your still more than welcome to lay over here an talk trucks. what month you thinking of going anyway
Would probably be late June or July when I take the car up there. It is all a tentative plan at the moment, but I will certainly keep you in mind. That is an awesome offer for a place to crash for the night...or a few days if we tear into your truck.
Ok...the up-pipes are painted and cured in the oven. Silicone exhaust paint.
The turbo is rebuilt and back together with paint. 2000* black rustoleum high heat and 1500* aluminum silicone exhaust paint
Babies butt got paint, too. 2000* black
And here is an eye candy photo...
Whoever guesses what my "little" GTP38 is sitting next to gets first prize. Christof and Woody are excluded from the guessing game since they already know what it is.
I pulled the oil rail end plugs to replace the o-rings. I found the o-rings that were in there were MUSH! I mean they came off the plugs all stringy and melted. I was quite surprised. Banjo bolt o-rings looked to have held up well after 220k. Replaced those and moved on to the doghouse o-rings. They were in bad shape as well. Very deformed and soft for some reason. Then I got the oil filler riser o-ring last.
Gonna do the oil cooler another time. I am running out of time this weekend, and I simply don't feel like draining coolant and oil in the short time I have left to finish this. My wife is giving me looks like the truck is never going to move again...
This was my stopping point for the night while putting everything back in. Getting tired, and I make mistakes when I get tired.
The FRx sure is easy to install like this! New HPO lines are on, but not in this photo. They fit great, but take up more space. I'll get a photo for everyone. Up-pipes, turbo re-install and 4" exhaust when I wake up. I need to edit my first post to 72 hours from 48 on this maintenance/mod weekend.

after seeing some more of your handy work i think you should really consider getting that car up north sooner lol, the trucks lookin good. and my door is always open to the brotherhood.
Bellowed and WRAPPED up-pipes. Can you say super efficient?
One more coat of paint over the top of that wrap and they go on. One 15' roll of wrap easily does both pipes.
mike, my truck has a hole with a rubber gromet like right next to the pcm under the dash. thats were i was gonna go through with all my stuff. but i've never been in an ex before.
So the up pipes went in with no problems? They look good and I might have to follow your lead again. I'm starting to feel like Luke Skywalker and you're Obi-wan Kenobi. Let us know what you think about the fit and finish on them. Luckily I haven't been able to order anything from RiffRaff yet. I would love to save $200 over those international ones.
Nice job on wrapping the up pipes ! Are you wrapping your down pipe too? I did both my up's and down pipe. I believe that if you keep the exhaust gasses hot helps the turbo to spool up quicker. Or should I say the exhaust going into the turbine housing and exiting it should not be cooled until it is at least 20-30 inchs past the turbine housing. And your floor boards stay alittle cooler in the summer.
