Instrument cluster dies while driving

Today is my first day putting mileage on my truck since I had new heads, new hpop and new oil cooler installed. The job was done cab off. Now when I'm driving, randomly the instrument cluster just dies. All the needles do a full sweep. Radio loses power. Headlights stay on. Truck keeps running. Aftermarket gauges not effected. No CEL. Nothing found by my edge insight. After a few moments it all comes back.
Doesn't seem to matter if I'm straight or turning, smooth road or bumpy.

I'm sure something must be loose. Can anyone direct me where to check. Thanks.
I have 100+ miles left to get home.

Check all the wires on the drivers side fender well for bad connection and at the firewall. It's strictly a connection problem IMHO.

Also check the plug on the back of your alt.
Mine did the same thing and I had to replace the ( I think ) regulator plug.

Thanks for the replies. It happened a few more times on the ride home so I pulled over into a Lowes parking lot and tried to crawl around under the dash looking for something obvious.
Nothing seemed loose or out of place but I will try again in better detail tomorrow.
Thank you Andy for the tip about the alt wires. I will check that too, maybe even resecure them anyways.

You might want to try some die electric grease on that plug on the alt. also Colm

You are welcome and that is why we are here, to help each other.

Thanks again Andy.

My Edge CTS was showing the battery voltage go up to 15 volts and higher for short bursts. Then I was having the random dash issue.

Yesterday I found the connector at the alternator was not fully snapped together. I seated it fully and took it for a short 30 mile drive yesterday. No problems noted. This coming week I'll be back to big miles so I'll know for sure. Problem solved if I don't update this thread again.

It's not too far from where I live. I've never been to an event there, though I've driven by it a number of times.

Are you competing or going as a spectator?

I am just a spectator. My pockets are not that deep, LOL.

I normally go down to the race in Englishtown NJ but I am excited abount the first NHRA event at Epping.

To see a 10,000 hp car do the track ( 1000 ft ) in about 3.7 sec is something everyone should see.

Shot me a pm as we get closer. I may or may not go to the event, but if you'd like to meet up and swap 6.0 and truck stories there is a great Irish pub about 3 miles from the dragway that is in an old church.

The Holy Grail Restaurant and Pub - Divine Food and Heavenly Spirits

Yours is always one of the best presented trucks on here. If I recall you have one of the cleanest engine bays of anyone on here. Let me pick your brain for tips and tricks and I'll buy the beer and potato skins.

But we will see if we could hook up.

And thanks for the kind words about my truck.
