Born in raised in our lovely state. Although I hope to join you guys in a drive soon, im a little far away in my project. Needing some parts for my previously neglected 48 f1. Anyone know any yards or swap meets that could help me out? One at the fairgrounds here in Lawrence is still a few months away but ready to get busy. Thanks for the help guys and good luck with the projects.
What are you needing? There is a guy over at Riley, just west of Manhattan that has some rarly f series parts. I sold him an old f5 farm truck a couple of years ago. Also there is a yard in Delphos that often has older stuff.
head from a flat6. battery box. One piece of hood trim, some side mirrors, one vent window frame and thats without thinking haha. Trucks a little sad right now but we'll get her back going. I could easily spend a day just poking around the yards but mostly in KC area dont have the older inventory, or at least those ive visited.
mainly answering my own request but thought I would pass it along. Although theyre definitely not giving things away by any means I did have a productive trip to Easy Jack & Sons outside of Junction City, KS. Large lot with lots of old cars and trucks. Ten plus older ford trucks and was able to find what I needed. Also do part locations so might help if anyone is in need. Thanks again for your help fellas and best luck on the projects.
yeah, they are pretty overpriced, and one time you stop in, and they are your best friend, and the next time, they look at you like... what are you still doing here? that's hit and miss.
There is one near Wymore NE that has A LOT of old Ford truck sitting around. I know a guy up there that would know if there are any good trucks up there for you.
I went to the one at Wymore about 10 years ago and picked up some stuff. At that time they had a lot of neat old stuff. Higher iron prices got a lot of stuff crushed at a lot of yards.
Yea but there is still a lot of trucks still sitting around. I has a buddy that lives a few miles from there and he gets parts for his trucks and for other people some times, me included.
The place by Wymore is Watts Truck Salvage and is run by Shorty the last time I was there. Call and check for parts 402 645-8066. Kewl folks there. I got a complete cab for my '85 real reasonable.
