E4OD no forward gears

Ok this is my first post and I really need some help. I've seen other posts on here about the e4od with no forward gears but no clear answers. I have a 1991 F-150 2wd 302. I lost all forward gears on the interstate. Transmission had been slipping for about a week. Got the truck towed home. Found the rear seal had blown out and I had no fluid. Replaced seal and dropped the pan to check for debris ....no debris found....fluid was clean and didn't smell burnt so figure no clutch damage..right? Filled with fluid. Still no forward gears. I do have reverse. When I put it in drive it feels like it wants to engage but no forward motion just a slight increase in rpms...about 100. Can shift down into 2nd and 1st with now change. Shift back to neutral and rpms decrease back to normal and feels like it came out of gear. Any help or actually all help needed.
