Hey all so I recently bought a 1971 f250. It's a bit of an oddball it has a 1972 460, dually axles from an international and it's a 4wd manual. Now my main question at the moment is about the spark plugs in the 460. I went to the store to buy some and much to my dismay when I got home they were half the size of my current ones. We cross referenced the old plugs and the computer said that they were out of a 360/390. I know that my engine is a 460 so how is this possible? Some type of performance heads? Let me know if you have any ideas because I am stumped

Is it possible when the parts person seen they fit a 360/390 they stopped looking? Also I think in 72 460s were only in Lincolns, 429s were in Fords. I'm not positive on what year, but sometime after 73' Ford engines went to smaller diameter spark plugs. I could be wrong on this, but it's my idea as to why you got the wrong plugs. Napa auto lists Autolight ASP 45 spark plugs for a 72 Lincoln.
