Talking Emissions Equipment Solution

Especially for those in MD.

So, my 79 F150 goes through the painful process that is MD Inspection. A major problem that I thought I was going to have was that there is no emission equipment on the motor.

The guy at the garage called and asked if it was a replacement motor, which it is. That's when he told me that I could get a waiver form from the Emissions department that grants me a 1 year waiver on emissions equipment since it's a different motor. In addition in 1 year the truck will be 25 yrs old, get historic tages, and I may not need to put the stuff on at all.

Truck is now inspected and I'm going to get my tags today!!!

Emissions Equipment Solution

I hate those stupid emissions inspections, been fighting with them for years. My 79 bronco has a 77 motor in it with no emissions equipment. I got lucky and they never opened the hood, then they really liked the truck and helped me pass, and I was throwing out all kinds of fumes, some of them had to walk out cause it was so bad.

Emissions Equipment Solution

Wow, you lucked out on that one. My state, (not all counties tho) has emission checks on any vehicle 65 years old and newer. Any vehicle that came from the factory with emissions, must have them on it, and working. And the historic tags in my state, will only be issued to 25 year old vehicles, that are for show and not general transportation use. bummer,

Angry Emissions Equipment Solution

Well my bubble got busted. I did get my tags, and drove the truck today.

However, yesterday at MVA I asked about the historic tags, and got the same story...for show, parades, etc...not for general use. Seems there's alot of people in my area breaking that law.

I may go junkin to pick up the air pump ans stuff and just put it on. I've been told that 25 year ol;d vehicle gets only tailpipe emissions, no looking under the hood.

Now that it's tagged time to think about the 4 inch lift, and a winter camo theme paint job. The wife's not too enthused about this though. Oh yeah, and new wheels, bench seat, 351 at some point, bed liner, and on and on and on.

Enjoy!
