decisions decisions

I'm trying to decide which route to go on my truck, I have a 78 f100 with a 300 6cyl and a 3spd on the column which the PO put on the floor (which I hate) anyways my problem is the thing always gets hung up between gears at the worst times like at a busy intersection and I've had it with the thing so I'm trying to decide which would.be the easiest to do, convert to a 4 spd like an np435 or go with a c4 automatic.believe going with a 4 spd all i have to do is unbolt the 3spd off of the bell housing and bolt the other one up please correct me if in wrong.... what would be the pros and cons of going with an automatic or the 4 spd ? Please help me decide!

4 speed is the easiest. You may have to have your drive shaft "adjusted", but every thing else is pretty much bolt in.

Could I use the 3spd bell housing or would I have to use the 4spd housing?

Bell should be the same. Check your input length. The trans to bell will be the same, a rectangular "butterfly" pattern.

Sounds good, the 4 spd should be Alot more pleasant to drive! Thankyou for your help
