bell housings
I recently purchased an earlier 289 engine with only 5 bolt holes for the bell housing. I have a 1977 c-4 with small bellhousing bolted to 77 engine. Iam thinking I screwed up here I guess iam asking if that 77 bell housing will bolt up to that 5 bolt motor? Thanks for any input!

'65 is when they changed. No idea if you can cheat and put a 6 bolt on a 5 bolt block. You may have starter issues even if you can.
These should be like sand on the beach, so don't kill yourself trying to make it fit.
BTW, what are you doing with that old 289? You gonna hot rod it?

I bought this engine from a person who had it rebuilt, and they never used it it was sittin on an engine stand for seven yrs. It has hp 289 heads on it those are worth the $300.00 I paid for the whole thing including the engine stand! I guess I'll just have my 302 block rebuilt toss those heads on it and get on with it! Thanks for the input everyone.
