I used my 4 low yesterday and it didn't want to switch out also. what I ended up doing was unlocking the hubs and backing up then going forward on loose gravel, spinning the rear tires. it took about 3 cycles before it switched back to 2 hi.
I was having a hard time getting my 2005 diesel out of low the last time we were on the beach in North Carolina and figured out you have to make sure you hold the brake down for a little and give it a chance also was putting it in neutral. That worked for me good luck
I too need to use Neutral to get in and out of 4low. Sometimes when real cold I have to pull forward 20 feet or so then back up the same. I figured it was a summer fix. For now I seldom need 4low.
