Well I guess its my turn. Been very fortunate up to this point with my 6.0 (135k) with only having to replace the ficm. Been running a little rough lately when taking off from light so changed oil and fuel filters (motorcraft). Didnt change anything. Checked fuel pressure, 45 at idle. Did blue spring upgrade and now have 60. Guess I waited to long to do it and now have 3 injectors 3, 5 and 8 falling out like -103. I need advice on how to go about this. Rebuild my injectors stock? upgrade? where to purchase them from? What eles should be done while its tore down? I consider myself mechanically inclined and am tempted to tackle this myself, not sure yet but approx how much would (should) a shop charge? How long does it take? Was looking on River City diesel and I see teh inject. 155, 180, 190 cc is it worth upgrade and how much can i go, running stock 03 turbo now. I want to do the head studs also. Do i replace head gasket or just bolts? Thanks for any input
If you go with Bigger injectors you will need a Custom tune to get the Air/Fuel ratio right. You will also need to do a Bunch of Fuel System Upgrades with Bigger injectors Like a Regulated return fuel system
Stock injectors stick with Ford
Best thing if you do Studs is to replace headgaskets with Ford OEM Parts
However some just pull bolts and install ARP studs and have been fine
Id add a Coolant filter
Do you have any gauges????
Would be a Good Idea to get the Spread of the ECT vs EOT and see what condition the oil cooler is in. Its a Good time to replace Oil Cooler
Also a good time to switch to ELC (Extended Life Coolant)
Also think about a Water Pump with a Metal Impellar
I would opt to just replace the bad injectors in the interest of saving money, unless you have just been itching to do head studs. Replacing injectors is an easy project so that gets my vote. I would also stick with OEM reman injectors. Here is the link to tousley ford parts http://www.tousleyfordparts.com/part...subcat2=158104
I will check that in the morning. Great point Bis. Not sure if you read my earlier post when this first happened a couple days ago but...it was about the Ficm. I replaced it about a year 1/2 ago, did the test, less than 48, replaced and fixed problem ( Point being I know how to test the Ficm). I would have had this Ficm ripped off by now and sent off for repair BUT a guy came by with his Snap On Solus Ultra and said the Ficm is reading 48.5, I have 3 separate volt meters that all read 28 volts at the pin!!! He says my meters are wrong. No one on here has been able to tell WHY is computer is reading 48.5 a diag port and Im reading 28v at teh Ficm.
