So I just replaced my GPR after my old one tested bad and now I'm not getting power to the glow plugs at all! The big post that is connected to the battery is getting 12v key off the small post towards the front is getting 12v key off and the ground is getting 12v key off and the other big post towards the driver side 0v. With key on same story. I don't know why the gpr is grounding when its supposed to be sending power to the glow plugs. Its not faulty cause I replaced it twice with one from O'Reillys. I recently replaced a fuse for the PCM because it blew due the fuel bowl heater but I wonder if the PCM has something to do with it. Any help is appreciated. I'm not really knowledgeable about electrics so elementary words for me please.
You mit of connected the little wires wrong. One from the PCM grounds and the other large post gets power. Another reason we miss RObin, RIP brother, he has all the information and pictures.
Late reply but everything is hooked up fine. Still not getting proper voltage to the other post. I saw other post about a manual GPR setup anyone have good info on that? I think it is a PCM issue because because the GPR is grounding when it should be sending voltage to the glow plugs.

I started that post and completed the manual set up with help of the brothers. Looks like we are have a rash of PCM ground problems. Test it and if the GPR is find, do a manual set up and a LED mod............cheap and simple.
If I can help, let me know

Ground the small terminal in the back as show in the picture Rich posted. See if your GPR energizes, and send power to the large I/B lug.
It sounds like it may not be getting the ground from the PCM, but it may not be faulty just yet. You can perform a continuity check of that wire by disconnecting from the GPR and disconnecting the PCM connector and measuring pin 101.
Look at this schematic I drew up to make it easier to understand.
Today I got some test leads and put the alligator clip on the PCM ground post and grounded it to the the battery and that activated the GPR post to send power to the glow plugs. But they would not shut off. The glow plugs where getting a constant 12v after start and the PCM ground post was at 0v. The PCM ground wire was at 12v with key on and was removed from the GPR is that the ground signal the PCM is sending to the GPR? Also is grounding it to the battery ground a good idea? If not where is good location because I hate messing with electricity. So I take it I have to do a manual GPR setup?

You didn't leave the ground attached correct? The manual grounding is only to test the GPR and not to be left in place. For that, you will need 10 amp or above push button type momentary switch, and some 12-14 gauge wire. Replace the PCM ground wire with a new wire to the switch, then another wire to ground. When you need your glow plugs, just push in the button for 60-90 seconds, let the switch go, and start the truck......also don't forget to do the GPR! LED mod. That will confirm that the GPR is working.
If half of America weren't complete idiots, Ford would have designed the GPR with manual control, anyway. Remember a choke **** on the dashboard? If I had a vehicle with a carburetor, I would have that cable-controlled, by me!
But alas, today we want everything "automatic", and it causes more trouble than it's worth.
Do the manual thing. You'll have much better control, anyway.
