I have been noticing when I'm towing or driving uphill with the throttle down heavy the intake makes an additional chirping noise on top of the original intake noise. Is this normal or am I sucking additional air in around one of the clamps? Thanks for the help!
Turbo surge is a rapid stalling, over time there is a risk of turbo damage due to it, you can move your surge line with various remedies...Wicked Wheel(Early gtp38 wheels or the newer Billet wheels, or WWG2), ported compressor housings, even to some degree tuning changes.
Okay. I need to ask this and hope to get a legit answer.
A couple of years ago I went through the same thing, add 6637, hear surge.
No gauges at the time so don't know if it did it before.
Does the open intake allow/cause surge? or only hear surge? I feel it would be an issue if these things did it stock, but I think I was told the intake does not cause it.???
I was running a superchip tow tune at the time, sooo? Maybe?
The WW took care of it, gauges agree. I would look at the Gen II/Billet wheel if I did it today. Heck I still might change, some good reports on those.
The conventional wisdom around here has always said that the open element intakes only allow you to hear the surge. Reports of hearing surge has certainly been a common complaint after installing an open element.
I have never run a TYMAR type intake, but I have always been able to hear surge when it happens regardless of what intake is was running.
