Exclamation Hot wire to trailer

I can't get my interior auxiliary lights to work in my horse trailer. I have a 2012 f350. I've checked the fuses and ran a test light to the hot wire on the plug coming out of the pickup and have no light. Does anyone have a solution thanks

I see a lot of trailers wired differently . Are you sure your truck plug matches what your trailer has for aux. ? I see a lot of confusion between brake wiring and aux . Some issues with break away wiring also . Just a thought !

Yes I checked everything and it works I can't figure out why I don't have power coming out of the plug of the pickup

A wiring diagram would be a good investment . Perhaps a relay , or fuse is not installed from the factory . I have seen that . Even with factory towing pkg. Last thought , run or jump a new wire to power accy.

I agree with JWC 3, look for a missing relay under the hood. look in your owners manual to get the relay and fuse locations.

Just in case....first make sure the ignition key is turned on, then check the relay

I bet you have the most common issue with trailer lights... Poor ground. Complete the circuit before you doing anything else.

The Fords unlike everyone else turn the hot lead OFF when the keys are not
turned on. So if you want/need lights to work when the ignition is off your
going to need to install an aux battery.

I agree---mine lost power to trailer plug---went to owner's manual---saw there was a relay in the power distribution box under the hood----replaced the relay and solved the problem. Since my winch battery is constantly charged from that wire, I installed a circuit breaker at the plug junction to help it from being overloaded.
