When someone says "Turbo leak", our heads go right to the boost side of the turbo, which is contrary to a hot leak. If the exhaust side or the wastegate went to atmosphere, that would be hot... and freaking LOUD.
Not everybody recognizes when a diesel is louder than it's supposed to be, I didn't for the first several months of ownership... with every exhaust component leaking. If the problem is heat from the engine compartment, you will have an exhaust problem more than likely. Look for soot. No... really look for soot. Get a flashligh, a mirror, an inspection camera, a police sketch artist, or whatever it takes to find soot anywhere near pipes under or behind the engine. There should be absolutely zero soot anywhere around the engine. Soot? Exhaust leak... and heat.
The EBPV valve can stick, converting the exhaust plumbing to a night-light.

- What does the dash temperature gauge read?
- Do you smell exhaust or see soot under the hood?
- Is there a lot of soot out the tailpipe when you accelerate?
- Do you by any chance have aftermarket gauges, a scan tool, a Powerstroke compatable code puller, a laser thermometer, or a Quija board?
