Decoding VIN
Further to my posting on my 1965 F250 camper special, can someone help me with decoding my VIN number? It is:
F25FR638702
The website tech guide has a vin decoder but it starts with 1981.

F25 = F250 2 wheel drive truck, F = 300 cubic inch I-6 1v engine, R = built in San Jose, CA, and 638702 = built in January, 1965. Post the information from the warranty plate on your driver side door edge and someone from the forum will decode more information for you. Good luck with your new truck.

Well, I tried to get the engine code by deduction, but I obviously failed. I knew that D was the code for the 352 in 1965, and he didn't list it. I also knew that the only 6 cylinder engine for a Camper Special was the 300. So if he provided correct information for the engine code, it had to be the 300. Only he didn't. That's what I get for the deduction system - caught by the ever vigilant Number Dummy!
