hcfm removal help, Fixed.......

So I diagnosed my fuel pressure at less than 10 cranking, so I unhooked the main harness because the three plugs on my unit are so full of dirt they won't unplug. now my problem is I cannot get the hcfm to tank return line off. The other three came off with a little fight but this is going on day two. Any suggestions? I've blasted the connector with brakekleen and soaked it in pb blaster last night and tried to wriggle on it some more today. sometimes it feels like the spring inside moves then nothing. it seems as with the disconnect tool in that the plastic retainer doesn't raise on the outside. I gotta get this thing out.

just saw ur write-up. very nice n informative. if u got plugged up so bad, and i noticed someone asking why. could be bad fuel. i'd use a cetane booster for every fillup or every other fillup.

however, i did try a crazy trick once, and it seemed to work. to a certain extent. and i wont recommend all the time. i used 2 bottles of chevron techron fuel additive (for gas engines) and it seemed to make my fuel lines clear up. obvious difference.

but i'd still suggest for u to stick to cetane booster and also to fill up diesel at a higher volume filling station. my 2 cents.

I have a case of power service, I use that stuff in every tank. In Wyoming you get fuel where you can. Even driving back to st louis pulling a heavy load, sometimes you have to get fuel where you can. All my fuel lines are clean, I have the proof all over my arms clothes and driveway. I'll re test my fuel pressure after I am done installing. Who knows where this truck has been and how they maintained the fuel system before I got a hold of it. It doesn't look like much maintenance was done to it. It was bone stock when I got a hold of it. Oasis report showed an egr valve and trans replacement in 2005. That was the only maintenance records on it. Then again it came from Big Piney Wyoming. Very small town, no dealers just local mechanics and diy'ers.

Interesting. I use motorcraft cetane booster. Another thing to look into is the blue spring mod. I've done it on mine and its straightforward. Just don't rip that fuel return line. Lol.

To 6.0techwannabe, the updated (brass) hfcm drain plug can be purchased from ur local International trucks dealer for real cheap. I got mine for 15 bucks.

Yes sir, I have that done (Blue Spring) I just don't have it listed, it's more like a mandatory than a mod, same with the coolant filter.Edit: It fired right up after 4 koeo prime procedures, I shut it off. No air filter. I button everything back up...... won't fire. prime like 8 more times batteries get weak, break out the booster. Anyway, I don't think i'll need to rent the fuel gauge again. After I got it started, thanks 200 amp booster, it ran like crap, barely got it out of the driveway, foot mashed to the floor for a good ten seconds, it started to pick up and ran like a beast. Back in business. I just noticed that I said a case of power service. I have a case of additive that will get me till next winter adding the correct amounts for every fill up. It probably wouldn't run to good on a case. It was early
