Gas hog
I try to ignore them, but mostly I find them irritating. Kinda like the guys who brag about doing (name any auto repair) in about 1/3 the time it really takes.
You might get 28 mpg with a 460 in a classic pickup if you drive 45 mph and have the right gearing. Not at 75 mph though. Modern vehicles can't do that with smaller engines, EFI and better aero. Something with really good aero like a 'vette or new Mustang can do it though. Of course if you enjoy the power of the engine and step on it a couple times your fuel economy will go away. My 2011 V6 Mustang gets about 23 mpg in my daily commute - it's about 300 hp and 220 cubic inches in a relatively small vehicle. Of course my commute is mostly bumper to bumper with some daily stop and go, but almost all highway.

My M3 gets less than 20 but I drive it the way it was meant to be driven... And who would brag about owning a V8 that is rated at 170 HP???
You then asked "Charlie what was the horse power rating on that engine?" and I simply answered, no bragging.
I'd never brag about 170hp from a V8, unless maybe it was a flathead, because that is a sorry amount of power.
