On a 6 lane divided hi-way where the speed limit is 70 and a motorist is doing 75 in the far left lane, should they move to the middle lane if someone comes up behind them doing 80?
The person in that number 1 lane should move over if someone comes up behind them, period. It doesn't matter if they're doing the speed limit or 90mph.

Guess it depends on the State Laws. Here in OK they recently, in the last year or so, passed a law making the inside fast lane a passing lane only. If you get in that lane doing just the speed limit there's a very very good chance the police/troopers will be on your butt and pulling a check on your tags. They dont want people impeding the flow of traffic.
Personally i like that idea. Isnt the audoban highway done the same way?
Brent if yer ever in front of me on the hwy & dont get outa my way I'll push you into the ditch, I hate ppl who dont accelerate to pass..........
Ha Ha, If I am going the max speed next to a truck and my cruise is on I'm NOT going to move for a speeder, why should I? If I happen to inch ahead of the truck I MIGHT change lanes and let the speeder get a ticket...................that's a great day then.

So speeding is OK? I go max speed and if they want to go faster I'm not moving.
Sure you weren't following a Schneider or Swift driver? Good gravy get outta the way!
nope, it definitely said jb hunt on the back of the trailer.
but i know what you mean about schneider and swift drivers.
i always wonder why a company with a name like swift hires drivers who ain't.
and if i see a schneider truck coming down the road, i get as far out of their way as i can. i would much rather be behind them so i can avoid their screw ups, than be in front of one of them and get run into in one of their screw ups.

I think Schneider runs its own driver training school or at least hires those fresh out of something similar. They use them, abuse them for as long as the newbie will endure and decide to work for another company or leave the industry altogether. That's not a job for those not fully committed to driving safely and trying to avoid mishaps, either of their own doing or looking out for everyone one else.
Most of the former larger outfits are taking on owner/operators---most of those would probably be the safer drivers---don't wanna tear up their own stuff!

Me? I pull into the other lane to let them pass to get pulled over for speeding. My wife stays put to let the offender find his own way around and I hate to ride with her when that happens.

I agree with your Mrs..........It's funny to watch these BMW/Lexus/Acura/Mercedes people in the rear view as they get impatient, angry, then stupid..........Then they pull the bonehead maneuver to pass you that gets noticed by the state patrol cop they never saw.
And in Oregon, anything over 85mph is considered reckless driving.........aw, too bad for them.

So what if you are next to a truck? I just wait until one of us pulls ahead (can't slow down with the idiot behind me and can't go faster and get a ticket) plus I would have to upset my cruise control............lol.
I agree with your wife also; let the speeders go around, you don't owe them anything.
You CAN get a ticket for obstructing the highway -- even if you're at/over the speed limit.
You don't have to break your neck to move out of the way, but it's not good to be a bottleneck either. Left lane is for passing.
Just my .02

I think that would be hard to prove if they were going the legal speed limit. Actually, any lane is for passing. The biggest bottle neck is a cop in the fast lane doing the speed limit using radar against traffic flowing the other direction. Cars pile up behind him, afraid to get a ticket if they pass.
Forgot to say, when I pull over, I exit the lane s...l...o...w...l...y. Yeah, they usually go left over the white line to get around me.
