Not sure if I am doing this right. I have a 97 explorer 4.0 the engine will get to operating temp at idle as soon as u give it throttle the temp starts falling I have changed the t stat, temp sender & ect the heat doesn't work very well the blend door and actuator work fine and full of coolant any help would be appreciated
Did it have this issue before you changed the any of the cooling system parts (thermostat, temp sender, and ECT)? Maybe you have air trapped in your cooling system.
Yes I had this problem before changing parts. I used a ford t stat I took it apart because of the way it acted. Took the ford t stat back out tested it with hot water worked fine put it back in still the same. I have a vacuum filler so I don't think air is trapped
Testing a thermostat in hot water does not confirm it is good. A thermostat opening and closing is a static evironment without being under pressure is quite different from an environment when it is under 16 psi pressure and the flow and pressure from a water pump.
