Hi fella's My situation is, the body is supposed to be a 74 sittin' on a 78/79 4x4 frame with 44/60 axles and the motor that is goin' back into'er is a mild built 390, so how do i specify what vehicle i have to a hedder company, or does the mix n match not make that much of a difference, im really would like to put fender hedders on, I am currently looking in cams, any thoughts, the block will be bored 20 over and the deck milled .015 the stock heads will also be milled (not sure how much yet).
Just make sure that you don't have the year wrong and have a highboy frame instead. It'd have a divorced t-case setup. If it is then just look for headers that'd fit a 360/390 in a 73-77 year F250.

Pretty sure this is the part # header i have in the 79 f150 that used to have the 300 six that now has a 390. The set i picked up before that was for a highboy, and the pinion of the front axle centered on the header, Yeah, great words came out of the garage that day
Best bet is to match your CR to your cam. And be realistic. Everyone wants a high RPM powerband to get that rough idle, but most spend less than 1/4 of that time in the power band of the cam. The best way to pick one is either call or email comp (or any company you want) with your engine build specs, and tell them what the engine is in along with gearing and see what they recomend.

The body from 73 to 79 is the same, 76 was the last year for the FE 360/390. Make sure you have the FE engine perches from that era too.
Your big concern is the 4wd, find headers for 73-76 FE 360/390 engine used with 4wd and you should be good to go. You might get by the the Shorties also.
Hey guys thanks for tips definitly came in handy, I endid up ordering a set of fender exit hedders from mad dog, figure this way hopefully things will go together smoothly and now I won't have to worry bout clutch linkage or axle clearance problens or tryin' to rout ex pipe around those things, so good luck to me,haha Thanks again fellas
