Shudder @ 65mph

As the title suggests, my truck shudders at 65 mph. It starts at about 62, gets worse at 65, and stops after about 67 mph. It doesn't seem to do this at any other speed. I can get the truck to comfortably drive 90 mph. Any ideas as to what causes this? It's not a steering shudder, but the truck just starts rattling to the point that it shakes the doors loudly and anything not completely tightened down... It has a similar feeling to when you run on the "wake up" bumps on the side of the highway... The most annoying part is that 65 is about what I drive on most highways around here.

possible tire separation or out of balance.

The shudder (vibration) is there all the time, you just don't notice it until a certain MPH

Front end alignment, bent wheel, wheel(s) out of balance, tire separating, worn king pins, draglink, tie rod/end, u-joint(s). If so equipped, two-piece driveshaft center support bearing.

Rear spring has broken, causing rear axle to shift over to one side...known as "dog tracking" as all four wheels are visable, not just two...when viewed from front/rear.

Kind of to high a speed at 65 mph to begin shuddering if the tire has separated. I am a pro at that. To many cooper tires , but that is another story. I would not think it is due to tire separation unless it was starting at 40 mph and between 40-50 mph. Then it should go away. Something else.

shudder

You better do what ND said about the driveline, it sounds like it could be a frozen universal joint. Kenny

Try rotating the tires and see what it does.
Sounds like it's in the rear drive line off the cuff. Do you have a local smog test shop that will let you back it onto their wheel dyno barrels ? If so, and it showed there you could rule out the front end parts. Overall with the small RPM range of extreme vibration. I think it is likely a driveline parts on the shaft issue. U joints worn / loose. Climb under it with it on stands and start looking around for loose, worn, broken stuff.

The Death Wobble can also be caused by rotten radius arm bushings. This applies to 2wd 100-350's and 4wd 100-150's.

all good info... I'll start looking into it...

I don't think it's dog-tracking, but can you please describe this to me a little more? what do you mean by "all four wheels visible"?

thanks!

Dog tracking means that the front or rear axle has shifted to one side. If you look underneath from the rear in the center, you should be able to see all 4 wheels because the front or rear is wider than the other, I can't remember which. If you only see 3, that means something has shifted.
