hey all.. just baught me a 04 f350 6l.. 71000km, bone stock..not goin to go crazy on it..but am looking into a couple mods..
what are peoples take on the banks, monster dual exhaust kit? i like the look and love the sound on the one clip i can find online.what i want to a clean deep/performance tone, without the jet engine whistle/rushing air sound..
now my main question is, i can seem to find a good answer on tuners.. i can get the edge products localy real easy so it sthe simpler choice, but what are peoples takes on the banks iq/6 gun programmer? a frienhd has one on his 05 dodge and its awesome..but herd mixed reviews on both edge and banks on the 6l.. or am i better off just gettin a a-piller gauge kit and keep the motor/ecu stock?
mechanical work isnt a issue as i commercial transport mechanic..so it comes down to whats best for the truck..
Some people say they have had good luck with Banks and Edge tuners, but MANY have had issues. It is not worth the risk IMO.
PHP offers a tuned FICM (you send yours in) that mainly adds responsiveness (not much horsepower). I like it and have not seen any negatives.
The most common choice in tuners is the SCT. Custom tunes are HIGHLY recommended. Many tunes are not safe for the head gaskets unless you have properly installed head studs. Many tunes are hard on the transmission also.
Some people say that Gearheads SRL tune is safe for non-studded trucks. Unless you don't mind an unplanned issue with head studs, I wouldn't recommend anything other than the Atlas 40 PHP FICM tune.
Sounds like for now I'll plan on tge banks exhaust and just a a-pillar of tge atometer factory match gauges (#7077)..
Slowly collecting the upgrade parts.. Picking up a used egr delete kit later today(80$). Then when the time comes I'll rip into it and stick on the upgrades.. When it gets a few more km on it and I don't feel so guilty tearing into it.
