Question TRANSFER CASE OR SHIFTER PROBLEM??

I locked in my hubs today to lube up the front gears. I went to put the T/C into 4HI & the shifter will not pull out of 2WD. It feels like the shifter is hitting something & not allowing it to shift, I say this because it hits solid no give at all. The PO thought after he had a tranny & T/C installed he used 4WD but he wasn't for sure.
The hubs lock & unlock fine. The truck drives fine with the hubs locked in.
My questions are does anyone have a diagram of the shift mechanism? Are then any ideas about this issue?

I was too crippled up today to crawl under the truck. I hope tomorrow to have better luck.
Thanks,
Craig

One thought me & the PO had was maybe the linkage was put on wrong. That is why I wanted a diagram. This truck is a Nevada desert truck so it isn't rusted I got down good enough yesterday to wash off the under carriage at the car wash to see where a small tranny leak was coming from. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to move enough to get down & get under it. It is hell getting old & being crippled up. I hate to pain pill up to do things but I might have to.

corrosion and physical pain

I am sorry about both of your conditions, have latter and had former .

If you force t case shifter it will break.DAMHIK ! pull it off truck and soak it in you favorite corro less , kroil,pb blast or maybe diet coke ! if you work it(pivot shaft bolt) free, then disassemble and lube nothing more will be needed. You will not likely see much corrosion on the outside of assembly .

Hot shower before and after working on truck,or ice helps me.

Regards,Ed

Bolt is steel in Zamak ,dissimilar metal corrosion.
ps bolts hard to access ,iirc

I was a competitive middle distance runner back in my 30s. Even though I never suffered injury's my knees are shot. I refuse to go through surgery & have replacement parts installed. Not good IMO.
So wait until your my age in my 60s, but maybe then they will have medicine won't be a practice but a reliable science.

Ed,
Thanks for that tip on the rust being possibly hidden. Tomorrow the P.O. is a buddy of mine & I will take it to his place where we have jacks, ramps & air etc I need to service it so I'll look at it. I'll keep everyone posted. Once I get down I'm OK until I have to get up. So my buddy will hand me tools I'm sure.
Thanks guys,
Craig

I fixed it today the linkage had come off, When the tranny got replaced I don't think it got snapped all the way on. So an easy fix.
