Will E4FZ-3B661-A work in place of E2FZ-3B661-A?

1976/79 4WD's have a one piece lower steering shaft & coupler assy. These steering columns cannot be used in a 2WD.

Every one if the 78/79 tilt columns I've picked up over the year's 2wd or 4x4 has been exactly the same & bolt right into every 4x4 truck I've put together ranging from 74's to 79's. I have put 77-79 cabs on almost every truck I've built but not once have I changed any of the steering parts beside New rag joints.

If this is so how come the 78 2wd tilt colum bolted straight into my 77 without any modification at all???

Your books are not always 100% correct ND sorry maybe do a little less reading & a little more wrenching might help ya out a bit. Knowledge of worthless parts numbers for crap that's not available anymore is of no help to anyone anyway but knowing what parts that ARE available at the everyday at the ***** box parts stores that will work to replace those old parts would be so much more helpful don't ya think??
Just saying.. anyways back to work have a great day people's!

You didn't put any 78/79 tilt columns in a older truck like a 74 without any modification. I found out the hard way a couple times that it just doesn't "bolt in". The firewall gasket is different and so is the steering shaft. Some have a flat spot on the steering shaft and some don't.

2wd's have the flange on the non tilt columns but not a single one of the tilts I've had it. Only mods I've done would be swapping cabs. Just drill new hole for the gasket to the fire wall.
