0299 code

You guys are probably getting aggravated with me but, had my cousin run scan, came up with 0299 code vgt. I did some reading on here, is it possible for overboost that would expand and pop the cac tube, thats what I just replaced, but still no pwer, black smoke. I have read before on here about vanes need cleaning? is there a tutorial on here for that if so. Thanks

I would take more time and clean it better than the guy in the video, at least it gives you a good overview of what needs to be done.

Keep in mind P0299 can be over or under boost however, if you popped a cac hose it's probably over boost.

It is possible they were sticking in the closed position initially and now are stuck in the open position.

At wits end!!

Pulled turbo this morning for p0299 code, didnt find really anything, cleaned everything re installed. No Good. Same no power very little boost on gauge. I guess Ill back up is there something internally that can go wrong with cooler. All i know is when you rev it and let off it sounds like a tornado internally coming from outlet side of cooler. The bright side is even my 11 year old can pull the turbo. Lol

You can try cleaning the EBP sensor. It's on the driver side on top of the tube coming from the exhaust manifold.

EBP?

Would that have caused the sudden overboost?

Not sure about that, sorry. I know EBP effects turbo operation. I think a plugged EBP sensor causes underboost,or no boost.

I think the key parameters that control boost are EBP and BARO.

I am not sure why you would have sudden overboost.

No luck!!

Did turbo vanes, checked intercooler, ebt sensor.Could the howling air i hear by cooler be caused from an exhaust restriction??? Runs and sounds fine till you rev and let off, sounds like a tornado under hood. Not leaking air but trapped air if that makes any sense, 4" exhaust no cat. Thanks

Enough farting around already. Is there any way you can upload and post a video of the noise you speak of. Have an assistant rev up the engine in PARK or NEUTRAL while you video exactly where the source of this air noise originates, so that we can give you better answers.
