stock 400 redline?

stock 400 redline?
Any ideas on what the redline is on a stock 400? It will kick down and go right to 4700. I let off and didnt let it go any higher. I want to make sure the kickdown linkage it adjusted right.

wow from all i read here i thought they melted at 4000-4500.
ok all kidding aside, they should red line in stock trim around 5000-5500. having said that, i have never seen a published figure.

Well most stockers wont rev above 4000 despite how hard you may try, mostly becouse of the cam and the timing. The actual parts in a stock 400 will be able to stand up to 5000rpm for shure maybe 5500 but thats pushing it. with a litle improvements to the stock rods ect and good hardware you can expect 6000 and posibly 6500 but no more than that or you will get a few holes in your block from runaway rods.
