ok i was putting on my tranny this evening and upon bolting in onto the engine i heard a snap and the ear that also has the bolt hole for the starter broke off. can this be fixed?
thats what erks me i wasnt sucking it in with the bolts the tranny was out of the car i had the tranny pushed up against it and the bolts were not bound up or anything.
my auto shop teacher said he would try to tig weld it is this enough?
That ear wouldn't break off without some leverage. There had to be a misalignment, piece of grit, or a metal burr in the joint. The "snap" you heard was stored energy from the stress placed on the joint being released.
