PO476 Code

I finally have got the truck running. A used IDM, and a new set of UVC harnesses, started fine and ran great cold. As soon as I got to OT started to lose power, buck, and felt like I was starving for gas. Intermittent CES light depending on the RPM's. Pulled the codes immediately after I got her back home and found this PO476. Can anyone tell me where the EBS is on the 7.3 powerstroke. I know there is a sensor, and a regulator that should control the valve, but do not know the location of the sensor, I am assuming that the regulator is attached to the control rod on the valve?

I think it is right under the turbo. Search the site for EBPV and you'll hit a bunch of threads on it. If it is sticking closed it sure will run bad. Does it make a weird whoooshing sound out of the exhaust?

The sensor is on the front attached to the HPOP and tube from passsenger side manifold
ECSD - Exhaust Back Pressure (EPR) Regulator - 1994-1997 Power Stroke FAQ......You can just unplug the connector beside the Turbo that controls the actual valve....

OK, so I disconnected the EBPS, sensor not the valve itself and the performance issue went away, did not through a CES light but did leave a code for the EBPS low circuit. Do I really need the back pressure valve? Cold here is 60, average temps are in the 80's. My under standing of the function is to heat up the engine till it gets to operating temp. Are there any downsides to disconnecting the valve from a performance standpoint? Can I disable the circuit so as to not through a code or should I just clean the tube and install a new sensor?

There's a thread on here for getting rid of it all together. I know I have seen a link to a whole delete of the EBPV but can't find it and it is past my bedtime. I know it doesn't harm anything to just leave it unplugged. There's also a thread about converting it to an engine brake. If you go to the stickies at the top of this forum, you can probably track it down.
