fuel tank out?

fuel tank out?
I recently put 5 gallons in my rear fuel tank and it held for most of the day and suddenly started to go tinkle tinkle. Luckily I had a storage tub with me to catch most of it. This is the first time using the rear tank since I bought it in September.
Now the question is, can I remove the rear tank and use just the front tank for the time being? I would patch it as best as possible and reinstall it depending on rust condition. if not can I just leave it out or is there a valve for between tanks that needs to be addressed?

If you not worried about ever using it again, then I'd just forget that it is back there if it was me.
However if you do take it out as long as the switch on the dash never gets put on the rear tank you shouldn't have any issues.
I kinda wish my rear tank would leak so I can pull it and put a 38 gallon tank in it.
