All throttle and load conditions will be improved with more air in and faster air out.. It will take less fuel b/c of a more efficient burn in the cylinder. i agree. But, are we really getting more air in and faster air out with bigger intake and exhaust at cruising speeds? I saw 3.5 to 4 lbs of boost cruising at 70 on flat ground with stock box. I still see 3.5 to 4 lbs under the same circumstances with the 6637. I'm still running stock exhaust, but I've never heard anyone show that a 4 inch drops Backpressure enough to see higher MPGs.
If tuners do not claim fuel economy gains then why do we have 80economy and "Fuel sipper" tunes? i know DP uses the term "economy" and PHP uses "daily driver," I'm not familiar with "fuel sipper" but it sounds like it's for tuning down modified injectors. DP has one called "low fuel" that is intended to get rid of smoke with modified sticks. But nowhere do any of them claim improved mileage. PHP named their tune daily driver because they didn't want confusion that it improved economy, and it's intended to have better "performance" and improved shift strategy for a daily driver vehicle.
And I wasn't try to call you out or be a Dbag in my previous post.. I reread it and it could have been taken that way.. i don't think I took it that way. I have no problems being challenged on something I say. It might be hard to change my mind, but if I'm wrong and you keep me trying to prove that I'm right, I usually find out otherwise and eat crow.
To get back to what was stated in the beginning. Start by eliminating all leaks: air, oil, coolant, fuel, transmission fluid, and power steering fluid. Next check all sensors, inclucing the EBP sensor and tube, to make sure they are all operating correctly. Then look at improved air flow in and out. Then add gauges, if not already installed, and then a tuner. You will be happy with the results. It may not get a lot better as far as mileage goes, but the truck will be happy and so will you with how it responds.
HEY didnt know that all caps was screamlng.....sorry all of your post have helped !!!!!
there does not seem to be an easy way to increase mpg !!!! i have a buddy who has an eco tuner, maybe he will let me use it for a week and see what it does. would love to remove the muffler but don'twant to get caught by "dot". will check with tire store to see if bigger tires would help.will check with my diesel mech on the exhaust. however as long as it will haul what i need it to then i guess i will make sure my banker is around so i can filler up will keep everybody up dated
