just curious of what my fellow ford truckers out there is using on their windows. the tint on mines is 5%. thinking of tinting the front windshield 40%. I only have a strip at the top that is 16 inchs low. I was how ever thinking of putting a strip at the bottom of the windshield to so only the center of the window is clear but then again i would be only asking for trouble from the cops i think. just wondering does anybody know if theres darker tints for sale like 2.5% to 3%.
I tinted 6 inches top and bottom of my 79. I like it but it changes the whole view alot. This is pretty much exactly what I see while driving, it's a massive blind spot!
Wow, that windshield is kinda scary! Tint looks nice though. Long section, and don't see any bubbles, super smooth trimming.
I have never seen 3% for sale myself. I worked with a guy once though that had layered 20% on top of 5%. He said it was 3%. How did he know it was 3% you ask? The cop at the roadblock he stopped at told him. After the cop tested it and right before the cop gave him the ticket forcing him to remove all of it.
I used to have 5% all around myself(not the windshield). Not telling you what to do, but IMHO any darker is just a cop magnet or dangerous at night.

That is one of the most dangerous windshields that I have ever seen. I pray you don't hit anybody with that truck. I'm going to tell you right now, if you ever hit my truck with yours, I'd absolutely come unglued about the inability to see out of your windshield. And I know for a fact that is ILLEGAL to have. In Illinois you are allowed a 6" visor, and no more.
Anyway, most states have a legal limit of how much light has to be able to penetrate the glass. Here in WI, it's 50% on the front sides, and 35% on the rear sides and back window. And the windshield is allowed to have non reflective tint down to the AS-1 line.
Welcome to TintLaws.com Check out that link and see what the laws are in your state. It's pretty accurate. But remember, the limits are set not only for your safety, but for EVERYONE'S safety.
The windshield has been replaced with I think 3 inch at the bottom due to it cracked at the top when this got put in. In the 2 years it has been in I think I may have only put 30 miles on it, so don't expect me to hunt you down and KAMAKAZI you......
