OK, i was just outside looking at my truck and i discovered a crack in my windshield, it's really not noticable but i would like it to not get any bigger, is there a way i can stop the crack from taking over my whole windshield so it looks like all the old chevys windshields??

i'd say it's more like 3 inches long, it starts out RIGHT on the bottom of the passenger side corner of the windshield, i personally think that's a weird spot?
and i dont know what could've caused it?

I supposed you could try to have a glass shop stop drill the crack, but I doubt it will last. Just look for a coupon from a glass shop that offers to pay part/all of your insurance deductible; I've seen them range from $100 - $200. I like new windshields from time to time; it gets rid of the sandblast look. And yes, I too have had good luck with Safelite. I would also strongly suggest that you get another Carlite windshield too.
All i can say lol, as usual you guys are right, PW01 you got it right on the head, i just noticed today that the crack is now like 8 inches long! i guess i will have to get a new window.. how does a crack in that spot start?
If I had to guess, it could be from a rock flying up and smacking it above the cowl in that spot, OR seeing that you're from WI, just operating the defroster on high heat in the winter could probably stress the windshield over time, and a crack could develop. Heat causing the glass to expand ever so slightly, and the cold shrinking it down ever so slightly... repeat...
I owned an old Prelude quite a few moons ago, and and was driving along one winter with the defroster on, and all of a sudden I heard a SNAP! It was night time and I didn't think much of it, but the next morning I had a crack right above the defrost vent. I just assumed that the hot/cold theory was plausible. I really have no hard facts to back it up, though.
well that is a good theory and it does sound like it could be truth ful!! thansk!

My old 1994 Ranger took a baseball and the most reasonable windshield replacement I coudl find in Nothern Colorado was $475. Just thought i'd warn yah. If you find it cheaper, i'm eternally envious.
i got 2 words for that much money: OH DAMN! if i cant find a windshiled for less than that, there is no way im buying a new one!! i can buy 4 31 10.5 mud tires for less than that!

I called Safelite in Spokane, WA this morning. 94 Ranger supercab w/tinted glass, $211.xx + tax, installed. Windshield only, $171.xx + tax. They have a great warranty on it too and if you like they will come to your place and install @ no extra charge.. And yes, it's a Carlite. Hint: pay someone to install it, it's not worth the hassle or your time.
