Ok...sooo My c6 Auto tranny Wont shift out of park...
i can get out and manually shift it. and feel and hear the AT Shift linkage click into each Gear but wont engage and drive off the driveway. i got Vacuum i got The correct Fluid levels and etc [ Standard do it yourself maintenance]
i bought the tranny from a friend.. it worked before i put it in.. but heres what i did
first off.
i yanked a 400m 6.6L with C6 Big block Bell housing auto trans With a NP205 Part time Transfercase out of my 1979 F-150 4x4 Truck everything but the motor worked PERFECT. before i pulled it. .
Dropped in a 1979 351Windsor with a C6 Small block bell housing Changed the Transfercase Adapter from the 400m C6 to the 351w C6 installed the NP205 Transfercase on the Small Block C6- [Fit like new]
Now when i installed the TC to the Flexplate they were the same color TC im wondering if theres a Difference in TC's Compaired the The BIG Block C6 Bellhoused Tranny to the Small block c6 Bellhoused Tranny..
If there is then thats my issue
any advise where to start would be MOST helpful. its been a hard first build for me. and im willing to learn more. Thank you!
Same color converter??? I swear i used the same converter in my baby c6 swap. Does it grind into park when you're trying to get it to move? Is the t case engaged? You could check that by spinning the rear output shaft with the tranny in park. In should be locked with only minimal lash. If it spins freely, case probs or tranny output to case input shaft.
I think the difference in the BB and SBF TC is the flywheel bolt pattern. I think the problem may be here-

The transmission may be turning but not the transfer case.
i Think the tail housing and tailshafts are the same dont understand why the NP205 Transfercase wouldnt work with the SB C6
as for the output shaft.. it goes in park. but not in gear. moves free.
shifting from inside the truck. theres no Griding or clicking or anything i dont even feel the Transfercase jerk into gear. its like its stuck in neutral
like. i used to have to be in park to get the T case into 4H i can freely move the 4x4 Shifter and the Column shifter.. theres no resistance or anything.
ok soo update... i unbolted the TC bolts started the truck put it in park it started clicking like it wasnt catching gear or the 4x4 wasnt in 2wheel...... could it just be the Torque converter not engaging the Tranny pump ?
That would be your park pin. This is normal, as if your t case was in neutral (no load on the output shaft of tranny) What did this tranny come out of? Does it have a 4x4 output shaft?
well i pulled the tranny today the TC aint even in the grooves for the Tranny pump... now im trying to figure out how to take off the 7bolt plate inside the bellhousing to replace it.
well the TC Fit.. as for it working idk the starter wont turn the flywheel and everything over... any ideas? all the starter does is slip into the flywheel groves and click.
