It cleans out any build ups in your engine. Loosens sticky rings and can help restore lost compression (if caused by build up on the rings).
I figured it would be a good idea for a 25 year old engine that I don't know the oil change history on. With the low mileage it has it definitly sat for extended periods which isn't always a good thing.
