CRC high mileage engine flush

Hey guys, I have to change my oil tomorrow and I have a can of CRC high mileage engine flush that I was thinking of using. Was wondering if this stuff is any good or not, I am kind of skeptical about using it. What are your thoughts/experiences about his, is it safe to use or should I be looking at a different oil treatment? Also have some marvel mystery oil hangin around to.

When was the last time your oil and oil filter was change? What is the condition of the engine your changing the oil in?

Many engine flushes can cause more problems than their worth. If your engine is at it's normal 5,000 mile OCI, I would simply change the oil and oil filter as normal.

There are also many recent threads here, dealing with engine flushes, check them out too.

Answer those questions and we'll go from there.

As Ed stated, engine flushes can be more harmful than good. They can eat seals, and plug up passages with the deposits they break off.

If you are wanting an internal engine cleaning safely, then check out this site:

Auto-Rx Engine Cleaner

From my research, this is one of the most successful engine cleaners available. Also check out Bob Is The Oil Guy - Powered by Motor Oil there is great info there about it.

Thanks for the tips guys. I dont know when the last time it was changed, i got the car, there wasnt a sticker on the windhield but i have put over 3000 miles on it. I think ill just throw a bit of MMO in with the oil and drain it after a few hundred miles.

You might want to consider a high milage oil from valvoline or quaker state. i used that in some of my older high milage cars. from what i could tell it definatey made a difference as far as leaking and oil consumption. even if you aren't having those problems, the high milage stuff does a nice job of cleanin up the internal componets. im not a fan of dumping extra stuff in my engine oil.

i would try using HDEO such as Delo 400, Rotella, Delvac, Tection, etc they are all very high detergent oils much less harsh than any cleaner added to the crankcase and after a couple oil changes get a UOA and pop the motor open a little and take a peek
