i have an early 99 f-350 automatic and i'm trying to find a pcm out of a newer truck so i can have more options with tuners and chips. from what i see there are several diffirent codes on them. does it matter which one i go with ? does anyone have one to sell ? or can anyone point me in the right direction. thanks chris
THere are different ones depending on what year, model etc your truck is.
What is it that you are looking to get extra from a different PCM?
Years ago when I first got my chip, I noticed that the Cruise Control indicator on the dash was lighting up when it didn't before. However...the engine "clatteerd" quite a bit more. I asked about this and the chip had to be re-programmed as it was set for a late 99 and not an early 99. Once I got it back, the indicator didn't work anymore but the truck ran alot better.
There is a base that each model, build has to follow. Getting a different PCM for a different model may not work. The E99s have a different turbo than the late 99s. So that is going to change the way the engine runs. And I think the injectors are different.
This is why I ask... What are you looking to get in addtional features?
i am wanting to go with new stage 2 injectors from ffd/cass. and new tunes from gear head. the guys at gh. dont tune e99 and the guys at ffd recomends upgrade my pcm so i can do this. does this sound right to you all?
I have seen many guys on here with E99s that have "upped" their injectors and done tunes without changing the PCM. Maybe I missed something and that is possible but I dont see where you would need to change the PCM. If you are getting tunes, (I am assuming a chip add-on), then the chip tells the PCM how to react to the new sticks.
EIther way...here is a link to a list of PCMS for different years and such. May help... https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/a...8&d=1352457829
