pcm question

I was discussing some prices for injectors with a diesel tech I know last night. His name is Josh and by my understanding he is actually involved with Spartan Diesel and builds injectors for them. He is an extremely knowledgeable guy. I was surprised last night when he suggested to get a PCM from a late 99 or a 2000 truck because they are better than the early 99. I did not understand that the PCM's from different years were interchangeable? Anyone have any feedback on this questino?

On a side note, i got to see the injectors out of a 6.4 he is building. THe 6.4 he is building them for already has 450 rwhp with just a chip. It will be BA with the new sticks

the IDM's from what i am told is better too.. the 00 and 01 had the better shift pkg in the PCM as well if remember right..yes they are interchangble..but you need to do the injectors at the same time or it will now run right...

Prior to installing my flip chip, I had Jody supply me with a 2000, PMT code PCM. He said that he believes that is the best one for shifting patterns. I had him burn the 80 hp econo tune on it with his shifting strategy. There is no comparison to the original early 99 PCM. I think he has figured out how to modify the early 99's now though, so I am not sure if you would need to swap or not. Hey, for $75, how can you go wrong with DP Tunes in YOUR PCM.
