PCM Upgrade planning

PCM Upgrade planning
So I have been considering a PCM upgrade and have read a few posts on here in regards to it and on another forum
Basically if I was to upgrade my PCM on my E99 then I need to change my HPOP to a 17* and upgrade my turbo in order to take full advantage of what the PCM and my engine has to offer, correct?
Also, with a PCM upgrade is there a way to be rid of the AIH code that will be thrown since I don't have a AIH and don't want one?
Advantages of a new PCM are, cruise light works, quieter motor, more performance.....
Anything I'm missing?
Do I have to change my injectors as well with a PCM change?

you can do the PCM at any time..right now if you want..then do the other mods..as far as the AIH code..its just a soft code..no light..no way to use a resistor cause the early 99 dont even have the harness for the AIH..i been meaning to ask Jody if he can fix that in the PCM.. it doesnt hurt anything but your eyes when you see it pop up in testing..so i havent thought about It when i talk to him..

Well thanks, I was a little concerned about that because I was really wanting to get my cruise control light working
but yea, in regards to the AIH, I would really love to be able to get rid of that error because of one these days I'm going to install a on board PC and would like to have real time monitoring of my PCM w/logging and graphing.
I'm a tech junkie like that.

Visseroth,
It doesn't matter if you upgrade your HPOP after installing a 99.5-01 PCM because the IPC, IPR, fuel rate, and pulse width maps in the programming are the same anyway. Ford never did program the PCM to use the entire 140cc of the AD injector over the 120cc AB injector of the early 99 trucks.

Not to steer your away from doing it because it did help my shifting, but if you can't find one for $70-$80 I would wait. Jody currently has my early 99' XLE4 PCM and is doing testing and tuning with it. He seems to think that with some work there won't be any reason to do the swap. Just an FYI

No, I don't think that is something that can be changed. But mine still doesn't work even with the PMT1, maybe no bulb or maybe burn out. Just food for thought...

Since you have a 6-speed.....don't find a PMT1 unless you want the check engine light on all the time.
This might get confusing for you, but you'll now be on the lookout for anything with a "DPC-421" code on the tag instead of "DPC-422".
However, there will be much fewer benefits to the PCM swap now that we know you are shifting your own gears.
