2000 V10 Excursion with stock alarm and remote start.
Intermittently, the truck does not start with the key in the ignition (the engine does not crank - there is nothing), but if I hit the button for the remote start, it starts right up every time. Then just drive away. Does it from time to time for about 3 or 4 starts in a row, then works fine for some time and then does it again. Any ideas?
Mine does this occasionally as well. Next time this happens try moving the shifter from park to drive and back to park, and try starting. If that does not give the desired result try moving from park to neutral and try starting. I believe mine does this due to the cable being out of adjustment.
Both good things to look at. Have to wait for it to do it again to see.
Also hearing it may be related to a failing fuel pump. If the pump does not get up the right pressure, a safety prevents it from starting. The remote start bypasses this safety feature and the truck starts but with weak fuel pressure. Anyone ever hear of this?
