Bucking and Dying sometimes 6.0 Code P2290
I have a 2004 F250 6.0. The truck will sometimes die while driving. When trying to start it seems like it is suffocating and struggles to start. But after waiting awhile it usually starts back up as if nothing happened, strong as ever. Additionally, When I reach speeds of 65-75mph the truck will buck and surge. I let up on the gas pedal and reduce my speed and it seems to help. I do have a code P2290
Little history:
The engine was rebuilt by Ford at 55K. I now have 200K. I have replaced the FICM with Ed in Ohio and the wiring harness to the Injectors from the FICM. I have replaced the batteries and confirmed alternator output to be fine. The ICP was replaced 4 months ago as an attempt to correct the problem. ( I will say I do not have morning start problems as often since replacing ICP)
After reading your posts last year regarding oil and how it works the injectors, I now change the oil every 5K and add a fuel additive recommended by a local diesel repair shop. I will be due to change fuel filters here this month.
Each time I have the issues, I would run it over to my repair shop and he would hook up the diagnostic machine. He says he needs it to be having the problem while hooked up and that I should call him when it dies so he can run over and hook it up.
Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
