been thing about what i should do about my 2004 F350 in my sig. Truck is great, motor is ok but needs alot more power but needless to say Ive been thinking about trying to sell it outright or trading it in on a new F150 reg cab 4x4 with 5.0. I figure outright because i can get more money for it and then go order a new F150? In the mean time I'm looking at buying a small family SUV, something me and my two kids will be OK in, something with better than 11mpg than my F350 gets! I would like a XL F150 but Ford doesn't offer the XL with 5.0 and 3.73 electric locker option so i have to get the XLT which i don't want. I'm not into the power window locks etc and i don't like carpet floor and cloth seat i just want a nice truck thats gonna last me thirty years and do want i want from it. I don't want to have all these fancy electric problems popping up down the road and costing me money
You can get the XL in a short or long bed with the 5.0L, 4WD, and the 3.73 locker. It's that way on the Ford Build and Price site as well as in the order guide. I just built one on the Ford site with nothing more than that (no power anything) and it came to $29,875 after the $1,000 rebate.
when i did this amonth or so ago it was the 12 model year and i couldnt, ill check it again. Also can you get the chrome bumpers with the XL without adding the power package?
XL Decor Package includes:
Chrome front and rear bumpers
Cloth Seat
Price - $115
No power package required.
Yup....ESOF....no floor shifter.
if you click on the XL decor package, it requires equipment group 101A, which is power everything. no way around it, at least not on the build page.
you can get your basic standard cab manual everything, so long as you don't want aluminum wheels or chrome bumpers. either of those default you to the 101A group.
STX comes with power windows ect by default.
as for the 4x4 ... yes, the switch is now on the dash and the shifter on the floor is no longer available. not that it matters much, the shifter on the floor was just an electronic switch anyway. don't believe me? spin the tires and pull the lever ... i tried it in a 97 and a 08 ... both did the same thing, pulled easily into 4x4 and didn't engage for about 2 or 3 seconds (at which time it ground gears cauz you ain't supposed to do that ... but i wanted to prove a point)
