I'm thinking of buying a 1995 Ford F150 4x4 Supercab, XLT, 302, 5 speed manual.
It needs a windshield, A/C charged & leak fixed. complete service & tune-up. It has 138,000 miles. It belongs to a friend & I know it history pretty much. He is asking $3500. Any thoughts on price.
The main question is it has a new clutch but the hydraulic clutch has an issue. It will loose the clutch you can bleed it & get some clutch but if you leave it sit for a few weeks the clutch works great at least for awhile. Can anyone tell me what I might need to replace fix etc. I think it has a new slave cylinder but not sure. My friend will tell me I just haven't asked yet.
Another question is the stock tire size 235x75x15?? I ask because I have 5 brand new 6 ply tires in that size.
I have riden in this truck & it runs good, the interior has no rips, needs to be cleaned.
Can anyone help me out on this so if I do decide to buy it I will kind of know what is in front of me cost wise. I can do the tune up, & service work. The A/C is R134A I think so I can deal with that. The big concern is the Clutch.
Thanks in advance,
Craig
You'll need a pre bleed slave cause on the 5 speed will never bleed out right
What is a pre bleed slave? where can you get one or is it cheaper to pay a shop to bleed it?
If that is all I'm looking at that makes that issue minor in my opinion. I'm pretty sure a clutch & slave cylinder were installed. But if your talking a power bleeder that was never done so that could be the problem. My friend had a friend put in the clutch. Does the price sound reasonable? I might be able to get it for $3,200
Thanks Craig
You buy them as pre filled
I havent replaced one but from what i have read and the hell my buddie went through bleeding his even the shops buy the pre bleed..... I hope someone can chim in with a little more experience with this than me
Edit: found one on rock auto $60
price sounds reasonable for our area , if body is good , i would want the clutch , slave , and master replaced at sellers cost. shops here would charge around 650 . doesnt pay to replace just slave if you have it torn down do the whole thing.
I went through this last year and kicked myself because of it. Replaced the motor in our ranger and neglected to replace the clutch slave cylinder(an $80 part) before putting it in, and wouldn't you know it the damn thing leaked and wouldn't hold pressure for more than a day. In a 2wd changing the slave cylinder isn't too bad but the trans still has to be dropped so it's a full days work for sure, I did it in my garage with no lift or special tools, the hardest part was getting the trans input shaft seated in the clutch and crank bearing again.. required a little grease, some finesse and lots of man handling.
Thanks Guys. I was afraid of that. I guess I better pass on this one. Since I can't do the clutch myself with the other things I would end up with $5K or more just to start & hope nothing else shows up.

UPDATE:
Well I went & looked this truck over & drove it. The clutch work fine. The issue was a hose leak. once the PO fixed that it has been OK. This truck is pretty much original, factory hoses, factory exhaust, no rust, just needs a good cleaning, good general service including front wheel bearing pack, a windshield, & A/C Charged.
So I'm buying it Thursday for $2800 cash.
I got a factory hitch receiver, & chrome bumper with it. It has a chrome step bumper now on the truck.
So you guys will see me hanging around this board I'm sure. The PROUD OWNER of another FORD.

good to hear!! cant wait for pics and if ya mind me asking looking at how many posts you have what section did you hang out on before?
Well, I have been an Arizona Chapter member for several years, I owned an 86 F250 4x4, 460, C-6 all modified for towing. So I hung out around there some. Supporting Members board. I just renewed my membership were I have been a member for 6+ years.
So I float around. The 385 board, & towing to name a few others. I am a retired mostly tired mechanic. I have been out of the game a long time so I depend on these boards for help on these newer trucks.
I'll get pictures up later this week. I'm pretty excited over this 95 F150 4x4.
