I agree that is most likely a bad connection or faulty sensor. Engine has always run very strong. I have listened to engine with stethoscope and can't hear ticking anywhere. I can only hear with naked ear. When it bogs It is like it is hitting a rev limiter. It shifts the instant I back off the throttle. When I shift it manually I can run up rpms until it bogs but it will shift into 2nd. Won't shift into 3rd though. My wife is about ready to kill me for spending so much time trying to figure this out.
So no check engine light? I don't know why but I think the Vehicle Speed Sensor isn't working correctly... it sucks tho I know, my GF YES GF! gets mad at me cause I spend a lot of time trying to fix my truck up and as of now I am having a cylinder misfire that won't go away. We're in the same boat bud I know how you feel.
Took it in to a mechanic that is known for his diagnostic skills. The SPOUT connector was missing. He replaced it. Problem solved. I had it smogged a week or so before the problem started. I am assuming the smog tech removed it for some reason and forgot to put it back on. Either that or the guy who test drove it removed it, but he never contacted me after that so I doubt it was him. Luckily mechanic only charge 1/2 hour for labor plus part. Out the door for less than $65. I wonder if smog shop will reimburse me.
oh my goodness! you had no timing advance on the engine other than the locked 10 degrees. that truck must have run like crap!! that totally describes the bogging down. I cant imagine how weak that truck must have felt! unbelievable, and no check engine light?!
No check engine light. No codes. It actually took it awhile too even start running funny. Since it is mainly used for towing and not my DD driver I didn't notice that it was lacking any umph. Of course when I picked it up from the shop and stomped on it I could definitely tell the difference.
