I agree. Line drivers make a world of difference. I can't remember Why, but in mine and my friends conversations we all seem to agree that a 5V pre-out on a deck would be better for clarity than line driving. The reason I went with a line driver in the past is because I didn't want to spend $1000 on a deck.

It's got just about everything you would want in a deck short of multiple disc. CarToys wanted almost $3k installed. I did it for under $1k my self using the refurbished deck and a brand new camera both off eBay.

I want as much room as I can get for storage and a sub takes too much room up. I wont be adding or switching any speakers out unless they are broken. What I did instead was bought an $8 can of aerosol spray in bed liner and sprayed it on the inside of the door panels behind the speakers where you would put dynomat. IMO it works as good as dynomat because you can get into corners and over tubes better. I had an 86' Cutlass that had only 200W worth of subs in the trunk and it sounded like 1000W+. The entire body (inside) and frame was sprayed in bed-liner and it made a world of difference. Also, I've had a ton of aftermarket speakers and nothing seems to sound as good as stock with bed liner. Aftermarket gets way louder, but doesn't have the richness unless you go with a true High Mid Low system.
If you want to do an amped system you want to pat attention to the voltage on the pre-outs. You want 5v or more. Cheap and intermediate decks usualy have 2v. The higher the voltage on the outputrs the cleaner the signal your speakers will put out.

You can also have the backup camera where the movie is in this pic.

At work - no pics (on just this series of posts)...at home, pics all around (even in my replies).

I just installed a Kenwood DDX719 in our Excursion, and we are really happy with it. I listen mostly rock music, but the wife listens to the top 40, rap and country. It is nice being able to bluetooth the music from my phone.

I've been threw the stereo stuff when I was younger. Now stock is just fine for me. I am looking to replace my head unit only for the reason to have a back up camera.

Here is what i installed in Feb/12:
Sony XAV-72BT 7 inch DVD with Touch screen from ebay ($375)
Leviathan Holdings 170 deg, CCD Rear View Camera from ebay ($99)
Kicker PH12 12” powered sub with enclosure from Best Buy ($250)
Kenwood 6x8 (6) KFC-C6893PS from ebay ($150)
Everything works great, but the Kicker powered sub is really not powerful enough to really shake the truck. I wanted something small and self contained. But since I don't listen to much music, it does what I need it to do.

Rear battery?

I'm bringing up this old topic because I remember someone talking about a rear battery installation. I've changer my mind and wish to install a sub in back, but in the process think it would be wise to add an auxiliary battery for the sub. I guess I'd need some kind of separator? Something to separate the batteries current?

I'm sue I could figure that out, but the real reason I'm posting is to find the location and process for installing. I think I remember it being on the drivers side underneath next to the fuel tank.

There was a guy I was talking to who installed a battery on the frame rail and powered he subs with it. Sorry I forget who it was
I plan on putting an agm battery into the wheel well plastic panel inside the drivers side. They make electronic battery isolators that allow your auxiliary battery to get charged by your main batteries bit won't let it drain them so you can always start your truck!

That is an awesome spot for a battery actually, but no I meant on the inside of the vehicle, ahead of the spare tire but hidden inside the panel. My reason behind that is so I can hook my security system to it and it will be very unlikely to be found. Also means no holes in the rear of my truck which is great cause I do off-road and go mudding frequently
