I'm not sure if there is any source for just the cable. I had the same problem as you do with my 1981 F100 with an AOD. I ordered a new shift indicator with cable from LMC truck. The only issue is that they only have the C4/C6 indicator, but I found it easy to fit the new cable from the new indicator to my existing AOD indicator and it works perfectly. The new indicator from LMC is also a genuine Ford part.

Thank you for the tip,I got another tip that said that NOS Parts Source Olathe KS 913 220 5746 has the cable.I haven't had
a chance to call them yet,but I will check out both sources.Thanks again
